Routinely named one of the best neighborhoods in Calgary, Inglewood has a selection of infill homes, luxury homes and estates, and luxury condos available as well. The homes are an even mix between 2-storey options and bungalows. Due to its location near the Bow River, this community is home to several nature preserves, including a bird sanctuary. Inglewood is bounded by the Bow River to the north and east, the Elbow River to the south, and the CPR Yard to the west.
A City Centre Sanctuary
The beautiful Bow River is within walking distance – and unlike other areas of the Calgary’s core that may be packed with people, there’s plenty of space to roam in Inglewood. Enjoy walking through the various nature preserves, including the Wildlands and the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Get involved in the community by participating in local classes, or simply taking advantage the tennis courts, hockey rinks, and swimming pools in the area. Buy an annual pass to the Calgary Zoo – you’re so close you’ll have animals on your doorstep. Finally, if you’re looking for some of the best restaurants in the city, explore the pubs and eateries along 9th Avenue SE.
Schools serving the neighborhood include Colonel Walker Community School, Dr. Oakley School, and Western Canada High School.
Transit users are in luck – the Zoo C-train station is a short walk away, and the popular #1 Bowness – Forest Lawn bus route runs directly through the community. While you can walk to downtown (if you have a decent chunk of time on your hands), you’re better off taking advantage of Calgary’s downtown cycle track. Finally, easy access to both Blackfoot Trail and Deerfoot Trail allow you to make your way across the city come crunch time.
It’s Friday afternoon and you’re home early from work. What better way to take advantage than some time spent in the sun? Walk the paths along the river, or do some bird watching at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. After you’ve worked up an appetite, dine out at one of the best restaurants in the city. Take in a local blues band at one of the pubs, or grab a cab and head to 17th Avenue to experience the Red Mile. When you live in Inglewood, you have the peace of the suburbs but the lifestyle of the inner city.
