Sunnyside, City Centre Calgary Real Estate Listings and Community Info
Sunnyside is a city centre (formerly inner city) Calgary community that offers an array of condo apartments, single family homes, and townhouses for sale, with the majority of properties being condos. Ready to live the good life? Then take a look at Sunnyside’s available luxury homes and estates and condo penthouses. Also expect to find some infill houses among the real estate listings. Prince’s Island Park is close by and frequently hosts events, including the annual Shakespeare in the Park play.
Sunnyside is bounded by McHugh Bluff Park to the north, Centre Street to the east, the Bow River to the south, and 10th Street NW to the west.
Across the River from the Downtown Core
Prince’s Island Park is the major green space in the area, though McHugh Bluff Park is a close second. On Prince’s Island in particular you’ll frequently find small festivals, performances, and plays on weekends. The Bow River Pathway and Sunnyside Bank Park are also popular. Other amenities include an outdoor rink, soccer field, baseball diamond, tennis courts, and an outdoor swimming pool.
You’ll find a Safeway and a variety of restaurants on 10th Street NW, and the North Hill Shopping Centre is a short drive away. You can walk to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).
Schools serving the community include Sunnyside School, Rosedale School, and Crescent Heights High School.
Centre Street and 10th Street SW will both take you across the Bow River and into downtown. Sunnyside C-train Station is within walking distance, as is SAIT, and you’re only a short drive away from the University of Calgary and Foothills Hospital. The #4 Huntington bus line runs through the community.
If you’re a fan of the bard, you’ll love being able to walk to one of summer’s best events – Shakespeare in the Park. Whether it’s Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, or a Midsummer’s Night Dream, the production is always excellent.
Looking to support locally grown food? Then you should check out the annual farmers’ market that takes place in Sunnyside. Gather a group of friends and go searching for homemade jam, fresh berries, and handmade sausage.
Cool off in the summer by taking a dip in the outdoor swimming pool – it’s always a popular place to be for kids and adults alike.
