Citadel is a northwest Calgary community that features single family homes, townhouses, and condos for sale, with the majority of properties being 2-storey single family houses, though there are a handful of bungalows and split-level homes. A primarily residential neighborhood, Citadel has a rather unique design – the community is based around a central green space, which has paths winding through the neighborhood. In that green space you’ll find a playground, an outdoor hockey rink, and tree-lined paths.  Citadel is bounded by Stoney Trail on the north, Sarcee Trail on the east, Country Hills Boulevard on the south, and the intersection of Country Hills Boulevard and Stoney Trail on the west.

Amenities

What Citadel lacks in walkability, it makes up for in wide open spaces. Citadel Park, which serves as the central hub to the community, has a playground, an outdoor hockey rink, tennis and basketball courts, and a pair of baseball diamonds. Or, if you’d prefer, there’s a field of soft grass just waiting for you to lay in. As for shopping, you’ll likely head to nearby Simons Valley to find the stores you’re looking for. Don’t worry – it’s just a short drive down Country Hills Boulevard.

 

Citadel Park School and St. Brigid School both serve the community.

 

Transit

Living far to the northwest means you’re sacrificing a short commute in favor of a more suburban lifestyle. However, being close to Stoney Trail and Country Hills Boulevard is key – both work as routes to get you either around Calgary, or driving towards the interior. While there are no C-train stations in the neighborhood, the #199 Citadel bus line takes residents to the Brentwood C-train station.

 

Lifestyle

Every year, once the kids are out of school and July rolls around, the residents of Citadel come together for the annual stampede breakfast. Wake up to the smell of pancakes and bacon cooking in one of the green spaces, and come out and meet your neighbors.

 

While your drive to work in the morning may be a bit longer, when you return home, there’s nothing quite like relaxing in your house, cooking dinner, then taking a walk to Citadel Park. If you have kids, you can grab a baseball bat, some gloves, and head out to one of the local baseball diamonds to hit some home runs.
