Deer Run, South Calgary Real Estate Listings and Community Info
Deer Run (formerly known as Deer River) is a south (formerly southwest) Calgary community that features single-family homes, condos, and duplexes for sale, with the vast majority of properties being single-family houses. You’ll find all sorts of homes in a variety of styles, including 2 storey, bungalow, and split-level. Residents of this Calgary neighborhood spend their time hiking through Fish Creek Park, enjoying the various green spaces, and walking the paths along the Bow River. Deer Run is bounded by an escarpment and the Bow River to the north, the Bow River to the east, Fish Creek Provincial Park to the south, and Bow Bottom Trail to the west.
Great Open Spaces in the South
When it comes to the outdoors, Deer Run has virtually everything you could ask for. Quick access to Fish Creek Provincial Park, an easy route to pathways along the Bow River, a short drive to Lake Sikome, paved hockey rinks, baseball diamonds, and several soccer fields. For those who prefer organized programs, the community centre offers soccer, softball, Girl Guides, and Boy Scouts. It also has an exercise gym and a racquetball court for residents. There are Walmart and several stores and restaurants just to the north of the community.
Schools servicing the neighborhood include Deer Run School, Don Bosco School, and William Hansen School.
You may be in the south, but you still have great access to the north end of the city. All you have to do is hop on Bow Bottom Trail and you’ll connect with Deerfoot. If you work downtown, Macleod Trail can take you straight to the office. It’s a short bus ride to the Canyon Meadows C-train station, and both the #28 Deer Run and #29 Queensland bus lines service the community.
Imagine waking up on a Sunday morning, pouring some tea or coffee into a thermos, and walking down to the Bow River. Or you can pack a knapsack full of food, hop on your bike, and spend an afternoon cycling through Fish Creek Provincial Park. Live in Deer Run, and this dream can become a reality. Picture your kids playing baseball on one of the baseball diamonds, or participating in the various community programs offered. And once Monday rolls around again? You’re a breath away from access to Deerfoot Trail.
