There are also a handful of skating rinks in the area – perfect for hockey in the winter and lacrosse in the summer. When you need to grab some groceries, head to the Brentwood Village Shopping Centre – a strip mall with a handful of grocery stores.

 

Schools that service the area include Banff Trail Bilingual Elementary School and Collingwood Elementary School.

 

Transit

Crowchild Trail and John Laurie Boulevard are the two major routes connecting Charleswood to the rest of Calgary. Residents are fortunate to have not one, but two C-train stations in walking distance: University Station and Brentwood Station. Also within walking distance? The University of Calgary. Market Mall, the Foothills Hospital, and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) are all short drives away. The #8 North Pointe / Brentwood and the #10 Dalhousie/Southcentre bus lines service the neighborhood.

Here’s a fun fact – Charleswood was the first community in Calgary to build an arena, and was instrumental in bringing the sport of ringette to the area. Residents of Charleswood are never more than a short walk to the nearest green space, and on weekends, many of them will tie up their hiking boots and traverse the trails of Nose Hill Park.
