Capitol Hill is a city centre (formerly inner city) Calgary community that features houses, duplexes, and condo apartments for sale, with the majority of properties being single family homes. While there is a wide selection of bungalows available, there are also a few 2-storey and 1 and a half storey homes in the neighborhood. A buyer that’s willing to search will also find a handful of infill homes. If the proximity to downtown isn’t enough to sway you, perhaps the short walk to both the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and the University of Calgary will. Capitol Hill is bounded by Confederation Park to the north, 10th Street SW to the east, 16th Avenue NW to the south, and 19th Street SW to the west.

Amenities

Dig the golf clubs out of the garage and head on down to Confederation Park Golf Course – a city run course that is to the immediate north of the community. If you prefer to not worry about a little white ball, you can simply enjoy walking the paths at Confederation Park. Shopping is also close by, thanks to the North Hill Centre. Enjoy football? Then spend your summer walking to McMahon Stadium to see the Stampeders beat the Roughriders. Schools in the neighborhood include Capitol Hill Elementary, St. Pius Bilingual Elementary School, and Branton Junior High.

 

Transit

Crowchild Trail and 16th Avenue NW are the main driving routes for Capitol Hill residents. As mentioned above, McMahon Stadium, the University of Calgary, and SAIT are all within walking distance, as is Foothills Hospital. If you don’t feel like driving into downtown, the Lions Park C-train station is a quick walk to the immediate south of the community. Finally, the #10 Dalhousie/Southcentre and the #19 16th Avenue North bus lines run through the neighborhood.

 

Lifestyle

From September until April, expect to see a higher than average number of university students crowding the sidewalks due to this community’s fantastic location. Once exams are finished, things quiet down slightly, allowing you to relax in the soft grass at Confederation Park.

 

Don’t expect things to stay quiet during the football season, though – every Stamps victory, residents are treated to the popping of fireworks in the sky over McMahon Stadium.
