Cougar Ridge, Calgary Houses, Townhouses and Duplexes For Sale
Cougar Ridge, West Calgary Real Estate Listings and Community Info
Cougar Ridge is a west (formerly southwest) Calgary community that features a variety of single-family homes, townhouses, and side by side duplexes for sale, with the majority of properties being single-family houses. If you’re looking for something a bit larger, there are also luxury homes and estates available. This neighbourhood’s claim to fame? Back in 1988, when the Winter Olympics came to Calgary, the north east corner of the community served as Olympic Village. Of course, don’t expect to find Olympic athletes lounging around there now – the area has been converted to a selection of private residences. Cougar Ridge is bounded by Paskapoo Drive to the north, Sarcee Park to the east, and Old Banff Coach Road to the south.
The Old Olympic Village
Come to Cougar Ridge and you’ll find green spaces, pathways, and a short walk to Sarcee Park. Should you find yourself in the right home, you’ll also find spectacular views of the city skyline. It looks particularly beautiful on a winter night when the street lights are glittering against the snow. While there’s not much shopping in the neighborhood, you’re only a short drive away from both Aspen Landing and Strathmore Square.
Schools in the area include the Calgary Waldorf School, Calgary French and International School, and West Springs School.
You’re on the western edge of the city – so you can expect a bit more of a commute. Still, unlike other neighborhoods where the drive to downtown might take you 40 minutes, you can exit Cougar Ridge via Old Banff Coach Road, connect to Bow Trail, and be downtown in 20. Should you want to explore the mountains, just head west on Old Banff Coach Road and it meets up with Highway 1. Transit users are a short drive to the 69th Street C-train station, and they can also hop on the #98 Cougar Ridge and #305 BRT Bowness / 17th Avenue bus lines.
Relax in your Cougar Ridge home, pour yourself a drink, and if you’re lucky – enjoy the views of Calgary’s glittering skyline. Come the weekend, beat the rush and head out to the mountains to hike some trails or just go camping. Don’t want to take the long drive? Go to Canada Olympic Park for some in-city skiing.
