Amenities

You wouldn’t expect to find much green space in the downtown core – but Chinatown would surprise you. The area is a short walk to the Bow River and Sien Lok Park. On a hot day, it’s not uncommon to find people sitting in the park eating lunch, or strolling alongside the clear waters of the Bow. And the biggest benefit of living in the core? The unbelievable amount of restaurants and stores in the area. You have ethnic restaurants that cater to tastes across the world, and access to the Dragon City Mall. As for culture? Calgary’s Chinese Cultural Centre is one of the largest in North America. Community programs in the area include language classes, martial arts courses, and a variety of sports programs.

 

Transit

With downtown in walking distance, you’re only challenge is figuring out how to get to the rest of the city. Fortunately, there are several routes out, including both Macleod Trail and Memorial Drive. You’re a long walk to Prince’s Island Park, and if you want to take transit, you can either catch a bus or hop over to 7th Avenue SW and take the C-train.

 

Lifestyle

Wake up on a lazy Sunday, stroll into downtown Calgary, and settle in at your favorite breakfast spot. After you’re finished, hop on your bike and head to Prince’s Island Park – or find a spot on a bench next to the scenic Bow River. In the evening, dine in at one of the excellent restaurants in Chinatown – or order delivery.
