Garrison Woods, City Centre Calgary Real Estate Listings and Community Info
As part of the newly revitalized Marda Loop, Garrison Woods residents are privy to all of the things that make the Loop amazing – excellent shopping along 33rd Avenue SW, a tight knit community, and easy access to Mount Royal University. Garrison Woods is a city centre (formerly inner city) Calgary community that offers an array of single family homes, condos, and townhouses for sale, with most properties being single family houses. In this new community you’ll also find luxury homes and estates, luxury condos and penthouses, and infill homes. Garrison Woods is bounded by 34th Avenue SW to the north, 20th Street SW to the east, 50th Avenue SW to the south, and Crowchild Trail to the west.
Part of the Marda Loop
As part of the Marda Loop district, members of the Garrison Woods community have access to all of the amenities that Marda Loop offers, including an outdoor pool, skating rinks, and tennis courts.
Flanders Park is the major green space in the community, and it is conveniently located right next to an ice cream shop! Frequent shoppers will be at home in the Marda Loop area, as they can head to the northwest corner of the community to visit Safeway and other major retailers, or explore the shops along 33rd Avenue SW for a more diverse flavour.
If you have a hockey player in the family, you’ll likely spend a decent chunk of your time at the Flames Community Arenas. University students will find themselves a long walk away from Mount Royal University – but it’s only a short bus ride.
Schools serving the area include Central Memorial High School, Master’s Academy and College, and Calgary’s Waldorf School.
The positioning of this new community doesn’t leave you many options for your morning commute – you’ll likely be on Crowchild Trail at some point. Mount Royal University students are in luck, as they’re only a short bus ride (or a long walk) away. Shaganappi Point C-train station is the closest, and the #7 South Calgary / Marda Loop and the #20 Heritage / Northmount bus lines run through the area.
It’s mid-September and school is back in session. While you’re walking your younger children to school, you’re passing young scholars on their way to Mount Royal University. After dropping your kids off at school, head to work or play hooky and dip into the wide variety of shops lining 33rd Avenue SW. Later that evening, take the kids to hockey practice at the Flames Community Arena, or if it’s a Friday, drive down to Chinook Mall and catch the newest blockbuster.
