Killarney/Glengarry is a city centre (formerly inner city) Calgary community that features single family homes, duplexes, and townhouses for sale, with the majority of properties being single family houses. In this inner city community, you will also find both infill homes and luxury homes and estates available. One of the highlights of this neighborhood, besides its proximity to Westbrook Mall, is the easy commute into the downtown core – just take Bow Trail south! Killarney/Glengarry is bounded by 17th Avenue SW on the north, 25A Street SW on the east, Richmond Road SW on the south, and 37 Street SW on the west.

Amenities

If you’re a frequent shopper, you’ll have several options when you live in Killarney/Glengarry. You can either explore the boutique stores and restaurants along 17th Avenue SW, or you can head to Westbrook Mall and hunt for discounts at the chain stores. There are a handful of green spaces scattered throughout the Killarney/Glengarry grid, and among those you’ll find both an outdoor skating rink and a few tennis courts. The local community centre, while not as active as some other ones in the city, does host both dance and seniors programs.

 

Schools in this area include both Killarney Elementary School and Holy Name Elementary School.

 

Transit

While you are in the inner city, if you work downtown you’ll still need to either drive or take transit – you’re too far out to walk. Crowchild Trail, Bow Trail, and 17th Avenue SW are the major routes through the area. Transit users should take advantage of Shaganappi Point C-train station and Westbrook C-train station – both of which are within walking distance, depending where exactly you live. Finally, the #2 Mt. Pleasant / Killarney 17th Avenue and the #72 Circle Route bus lines both serve the community.

 

Lifestyle

It’s Friday night and you’re ready to hit the town. Fortunately, you’re only a cheap cab ride away from where all of the action is on 17th Avenue in the downtown core. Grab some friends and get some drinks on a patio, or head to one of the local clubs for a night of dancing. Night life not your thing? You’ll still enjoy hitting a ball on the tennis courts, walking through the green spaces, and taking advantage of a short commute into Calgary’s core.
