Walk to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) or take a leisurely stroll through Confederation Park and enjoy everything that Mount Pleasant has to offer. Mount Pleasant is a city centre (formerly inner city) Calgary community that features single-family homes, duplexes, and condos for sale, with most properties being single-family houses. Among these, you’ll find infill homes and luxury homes and estates available for purchase. Expect to see mostly 2-storey properties with a scattering of bungalows. Mount Pleasant is bounded by Confederation Park to the north, 2nd Street NW to the east, 16th Avenue NW to the south, and 10th Street NW to the west.

There are two major green spaces in the area – Confederation Park, which sits on the northern side of the community, and Mt. Pleasant Park, which is much smaller. The community centre features a pool and a playground, and there are both indoor and outdoor skating rinks in the area.

 

You’ll find two major shopping areas available – there’s plenty of unique restaurants and boutique shops along 4th Street NW, while more traditional stores and chain restaurants are set up along 16th Avenue NW. 

 

If you’re looking to really get involved in the community, register for one of the local fitness or dance programs. And parents? Take some time to yourself and register your kids for one of the local sports teams.

 

Schools serving the community include King George Bilingual Elementary School, Ecole de la Rose Sauvage French Junior and Senior High School, and St. Joseph Elementary and Junior High.

 

Transit

16th Avenue NW is a major route running along the southern boundary of Mount Pleasant – it connects with both SAIT and the University of Calgary, though you’ll have to drive to the latter. If you need to access the downtown core, try taking Centre Street or 10th Street NW directly into the heart of the city. SAIT / ACAD / Jubilee C-train Station is within walking distance, and the #4 Huntington and #2 Mt. Pleasant  / Killarney 17th Ave bus lines serve the community.

 

Lifestyle

Confederation Park may lack the sheer size of Nose Hill or Fish Creek Provincial Park, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in beauty. Stroll amongst mature trees, host a picnic for family or friends, or throw a frisbee through the open areas. Like to shop? Then you’ll find plenty to enjoy when you’re dipping in and out of the shops along 16th Avenue NW. And if the heat gets to you, head to the outdoor swimming pool to cool down.
