Montgomery is a (formerly inner city) northwest Calgary community that features a variety of single family homes, side-by-side duplexes, and condos for sale, with the majority of properties being single family houses. Walking through this inner city neighborhood and you’ll find it’s mostly bungalows dotting the slopes and hills of Montgomery, along with a few infill homes. While you’re walking, you should stroll over to Edworthy Park and have lunch by the beautiful Bow River. Montgomery is bounded by 32nd Avenue NW to the north, Shaganappi Trail to the east, and the Bow River to the south and west.

Amenities

Edworthy Park is the primary green space in the area, and it features a variety of walking paths and paved biking paths. There are also a few benches overlooking the Bow River.

As for shopping, you can find most of what you’ll need along Bowness Road – though you might have to step outside the community and head to Market Mall if you’re looking for more than unique restaurants and convenience stores.

 

University of Calgary students will be happy to know that school is only a short drive away, as are both the Foothills Hospital and the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

 

Schools in the community include Montgomery Junior High School and Terrace Road Elementary School.

 

Transit

Montgomery’s location is great for mountain lovers – you can take 16th Avenue NW straight west into the Rocky Mountains. You’re also close to the University of Calgary. While not in walking distance, Brentwood C-train Station is the closest, and the #1 Bowness – Forest Lawn and the #10 Dalhousie / Southcentre bus lines are popular.

 

Lifestyle

Stroll through Montgomery and down to the Bow River in the summer and you’ll find it’s not uncommon to watch sunburned folks floating down the river on tubes and rafts. If you’re up for an adventure, throw on your life jacket and join them! Afterward, have a picnic in Edworthy Park – and invite the whole family! There’s plenty of space for everyone. Come fall, go to Shouldice Field on the weekend to catch a high school football game or wait for the rink to freeze and go skating. Lastly, don’t sleep on the shops along Bowness Road – search hard enough and you’re likely to find your new favorite hang out!
