Silverado, Calgary Houses, Townhouses and Duplexes For Sale
Silverado, South Calgary Real Estate Listings and Community Info
Silverado is a south (formerly southwest) Calgary community that offers an array of single family houses, townhomes, and side-by-side duplexes for sale, with the majority of properties being single family houses. Expect to find mostly two-storey homes in this new community. Also, if you’re willing to spend a bit extra, you’ll find an excellent selection of luxury homes and estates. And speaking of luxury, your new home is going to be right by Spruce Meadows – so why not take in some show jumping?
Silverado is bounded by Highway 22X to the north, Sheriff King Street to the east, 194th Avenue SW to the south, and Spruce Meadows to the west.
The True Suburbs
Amenities
Towards the eastern edge of Silverado you’ll find a green space, complete with paths and a pond. A second green space sits near the centre of community, holding two baseball diamonds and a soccer field. A short drive away you’ll find the Spruce Meadows off-leash dog park, as well as Spruce Meadows itself.
You can find most of the groceries you need in the strip mall located in the south eastern corner of the community. However, for larger shopping trips, you’ll probably need to swing into Shawnessy. Don’t worry, you’re only a couple minutes away.
Schools serving the community include Somerset School, Bridlewood School, Samuel W. Shaw School, and Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School.
Transit
Highway 22X / Stoney Trail and Macleod Trail are likely to become part of your daily drive. While you can take Macleod directly into downtown, you might be better off swinging over onto Deerfoot Trail in order to avoid the numerous traffic lights riddling Macleod Trail. If you want to avoid traffic completely, swing over to Somerset – Bridlewood Station – it’s only a short drive away. Alternatively, take either the #402 Silverado or the #765 Scarlett / Silverado buses.
Lifestyle
Silverado is a true suburban community, slightly separated from the rest of the city. When you live here, you’ll feel like you’re part of your own little town. Your neighbors will be a bit friendlier and your community will be filled with young families. If you have a furry friend of your own, be sure to walk them around the pond, or let them roam free at the Spruce Meadows off-leash park.
Speaking of Spruce Meadows, get used to seeing fireworks from your back door – they shoot them off after almost every major event. And the Canada Day fireworks? Spectacular.
